As a Doc Mom, meaning a mom that is a doctor at UCSD many clinics(child psych, addictions psych, college mental health)and the women’s reproductive mental health program is a corner stone and the beating heart that carries many families forward at the most vulnerable time in their life. I too have received services at UCSD while working at UCSD, but now this is the same service I question today.
Dr Brar and Dr Reminick are not simply replaceable at a time when access to care is limited and wait lists are far too long. They are beloved by ALL. They act with integrity and respect.
Their only flaw-being mothers of children that work part time ??? Unfortunately today they face the same discrimination they tirelessly help every mother fight against when pregnant or postpartum. The irony is unbelievable.
Why is UCSD moving backwards in maternal mental health care when 1st lady Newsom’s campaign and CA are moving forward?
Why is UCSD so busy expanding and merging with every other institution when they can’t even take care of their own clinicians and clients?
Why is UCSD choosing policy over practice?
Why is UCSD choosing operational metrics over patient access and safety?
Why is UCSD favoring some and not others?
When will UCSD finally put patients and providers over politics and policy?
What will motivate UCSD to authentically protect women and caregivers?
When will UCSD admit to the disparity?
When will UCSD make the right choice?
Ultimately UCSD has to make a choice and the world is watching
