Frequently Asked Questions

Honest answers about who we are, how we protect your privacy, and how to help.

Who is behind Bright Motherhood?

We are a patient-led effort, patients, parents, and families who have lived this care. We stand alongside the UC San Diego clinicians and workers (represented by UPTE) who are raising the same alarm from inside the system.

Is it safe to sign or share my story? Will it affect my care?

Signing or sharing will not affect the care you receive. You control how much you share and how you are identified, including staying anonymous. Please read our Privacy & Safety page before sharing.

What do you do with my information?

With your permission, we compile stories, signatures, and support and deliver them to UC San Diego Health, officials, and oversight bodies on your behalf. We keep your contact details private and never sell or trade them.

Will my clinic, employer, or UC see my name?

Only at the level you choose. You can keep your story internal to our team, share it privately with officials only, or make it public, and you can use your full name, first name, initials, or stay fully anonymous.

Is this affiliated with the union (UPTE)?

Bright Motherhood is patient-led and independent. We align with and support the UPTE provider letter because we share the same goal: protecting continuity of care for patients.

Are you collecting donations?

No. We are not collecting money right now. The most valuable things you can give are your story, your signature, and your voice with officials.

How can I help?

Sign the petition, share your experience, send a letter to officials (we provide a ready-to-use one), volunteer, invite your organization to endorse, and spread the word. See the Take Action page.
