Your Privacy & Safety

Your story matters, and so does your privacy. You are always in control of how much you share.

Before You Share — Please Read

  • You do not need to include diagnosis details unless you truly want them public.
  • You do not need to list medication names unless they are essential to your point.
  • Please do not upload or paste full medical records, dates of service, or chart notes.
  • Please do not name other patients, and avoid naming individual staff — describe roles instead (for example, “my psychiatrist”).
  • Share only what you would be comfortable seeing again later. You can make your point without reliving everything.
  • Do not assume anything you submit is private unless you choose a private option.
  • Choosing “first name only” or “anonymous” does not weaken your story.

Three Ways Your Story Can Be Used

When you share your experience, you choose one of three levels. We never move your story to a more public level than you selected, and we ask again before using any identifiable story with the media.

  • Internal campaign use only — helps our small team understand the harm. Never shown outside the core team.
  • Private to officials — we may include your account in confidential packets to officials, regulators, or UC bodies. Not posted publicly.
  • Public — we may publish your story or share it with media, at the anonymity level you choose.

Choose Your Anonymity Level

  • Use my full name.
  • First name only.
  • Initials only.
  • Fully anonymous (for example, “A postpartum patient, San Diego”).

You can withdraw your story or contact information at any time by emailing us, and we will remove or anonymize it promptly.
