I am writing to express my sincere support for Dr. Brar and to respectfully request that UCSD retain her as part of its psychiatric care team. As a healthcare provider myself, I understand the importance of finding a clinician who is not only knowledgeable but also compassionate, trustworthy, and able to build a genuine therapeutic relationship. Those qualities are rare, and after experiencing a traumatic childbirth and navigating the challenges of becoming a new mother while continuing my career in healthcare, finding a psychiatrist I could truly trust was invaluable. Dr. Brar has been instrumental in my recovery and personal growth. Beyond providing excellent psychiatric care, she has shared perspectives that have fundamentally changed the way I approach both my profession and my family life. One lesson that has stayed with me is the importance of embracing the “micro-moments finding joy and meaning in the small, everyday experiences despite the demands of a busy healthcare system and the responsibilities of caring for others. As both a patient and a provider, I have learned from her not only how to better care for myself but also how to become a more present, compassionate, and resilient clinician for my own patients. Her ability to understand the unique pressures faced by healthcare professionals and new mothers has made an immeasurable difference in my well-being. Continuity of psychiatric care is essential, and disrupting an established therapeutic relationship can have significant consequences for patients. Dr. Brar’s empathy, wisdom, and dedication extend far beyond medication management. She empowers her patients to heal, grow, and thrive. I sincerely hope UCSD recognizes the profound impact she has on the lives of her patients and the value she brings to the community. Retaining physicians like Dr. Brar ensures that patients continue to receive the thoughtful, compassionate, and high-quality mental healthcare they deserve.
